We love the look of the fridge but not happy that after only 4 years it stopped working on us and had to have the compressor replaced and lost all food and now since having the compressor replaced the fridge makes a rattling noise every once and a while. Glad I bought the extended warranty otherwise we would be forking out another 4000 for a fridge. So fingers crossed it last us more years to come.

Failed after 4 years customer service nightmare

I bought this refrigerator four years ago. It failed on me December 3 2025. It was working when I was home for lunch that day but when I got home that evening a CH E code was on the display a coolant issue/failure. I opened the freezer everything was at room temperature. The freezer must have been sucking in warm room air after the coolant/compressor failure. The refrigerated food was almost as warm. I had to toss it all. The store we bought it from cannot service this model as it is a sealed system. I was told to contact LG. I did on the 3rd and followed up on the 4th. I was told that a service tech would be reaching out to schedule a repair and food would be covered but it could take five business days to find a repair tech. After five days with no contact for the repair I called again. I was told it could take another five business days. I checked in a couple of times but on the tenth business five plus the original five I called again on November 11. The rep said they havent found anyone but if they didnt find anyone by Monday December 15th a refund would be issued. The refund didnt happen so I called again. The case was escalated. I found out today that whoever said Id get a refund on the unit and the food gave me bad info - I am out of warranty and they dont cover food loss apparently the food part is in the owner manual I was told the compressor is covered for ten years so LG will be installing a new one and covering labor but I need to wait two more days. They asked if I could find anyone local. I supplied one name but he apparently is booked two weeks out and I dont even know if he can work on this model. I called the store I bought it from again to ask if they knew anyone who can fix these they didnt. The employee said there are no local techs who can fix this model. Christmas is next Thursday and weve been living out of a cooler and have no assurances it will be fixed or remedied before the holiday. Incredibly frustrating situation.

Horrible refrigerator. Got service twice. Now condensor went and is leaking internally. LG repair said it is non repairable. LG needs to do better with there products. This refrigerator is 5 yrs old and we are a family of 7 which in 100 degree heat is horribly inconvienent. Do NOT buy this fridge. Hoping LG comes through with a solution and fast.

Fan in freezer failed only 2 years in. Not under warranty. Water dispenser slow. Ice maker is slowest thing ever and produces very little ice. Top of fridge hinge covers are huge. I so regret buying this.

LG refrigerator....a waste of money

Manufactured 05/2021 and installed 07/2021. It has been cold and quiet for the fridge and freezer. Water and ice maker/dispenser has had no issues. Now 12/2024 and got error code CH E on Christmas Day. I was originally told the code is a refrigerant leak. All the food in fridge was warm and freezer stuff essentially defrosted within a few hours of getting the code. Tried resetting the fridge it as instructed on LG site. It never worked and now the digital part does not display or work. Even the water dispenser stopped working. Both the fridge and freezer inside area got really warm and there was no sound of it running so I unplugged it because of the heat that could be felt when you opened the doors. I live chatted LG the morning of 12/26 and found out that its under a 5 year warranty. They were helpful when I contacted them originally telling me what I needed to do. I was told that someone would contact me soon. I called and spoke to someone today 12/27 and they told me that I need to wait 3-5 days to be contacted by a service technician in my area however their computer is showing that there are no LG service technicians within 100 miles of my address. They did say that if they cannot find someone who can come to my area they might end up giving me a refund so I can purchase another one. So I guess I have no choice but to wait a couple of more days to see the verdict. I did call around myself and spoke to 8 different appliance places. Only one of the 8 places said that they service LG refrigerators. Hmmmm that says alot to me.....

Buyer BEWARE

I purchased this fridge in 2022 since then Ive had service on it 5 times. This is the worst fridge Ive ever had. It wakes me up at night its so loud. Whenever I call LG its the same customer service over and over again. Its have tried this. Have you tried that have you leveled it have you done this? Have you done that and its the same outcome they will send someone out in that person will do exactly the same thing as they did before out of the five people that came three of them left shaking their hands in the air having no idea whats going on and why its making so many loud noises. One guy came and replaced the whole panel in the back of the freezer and it did absolutely nothing. One guy came and leveled it and it didnt make noise for two months and then it started making noise again. Its funny how they say to level it but Ive used four different levels and they all say that the refrigerator is completely level. This refrigerator is just a piece of junk and there is no way theyll give you a refund and there is no way that theyll fix this

Broke in 4 years

I am a loyal LG customer all my appliances are LG thats why I bought this refrigerator when my previous one needed replaced. I expected a new $2500 refrigerator to last at least 10 years but it broke in just 4 years. The electric board was burned and when it was replaced it turned out that the compressor was also broken which has triggered the electric board to burn. The problem is LG says compressor is 10 year warranty for part and 5 year for labor but they dont have technicians available and asked me to call local authorized technicians who I have to pay out of pocket. Just the two-trips diagnosis cost me $160. Then to replace the compressor the labor cost is an additional $900 which I have to pay at least half out of pocket. This is not right. Warranty doesnt mean anything. No in-house technicians available at all. IF you dont have in-house technicians you should at least pay the authorized technician in full. WIth all the upfront cost and the uncertainty if it can finally get fixed and long wait time Id rather get a new one. I wont buy LG again.

Condenser broke after 5 years. LG knows this is an issue and has a class action agreement about using bad condensors but only covers the condensor. Labor is not covered and is over $700. At that cost you may as well buy a new fridge that isnt LG.

LIFES GOOD refrigeration sucks

I would like to say it was great but we think it was grating. The noise level was irritating when it was running which seemed to be more than it was idle. It was nice looking while it lasted which wast very long. The compressor failed just after 4 year service warranty expired . The compressor was covered the service was not. It took 9 days from failed to finish. Now 4 months later Deja vu no ice and Hagen Das is now Mr. Softee. LG stove and dishwasher are fine but in refrigerator LG means Lets Get something else.

Terrible Customer Service

Had to give it a one star because I never received it I have been trying to connect with someone at customer service and no one can help. The delivery driver had the wrong product on their truck and now LG is making me wait until they receive the wrong product back before refunding me my money. Now I have no refrigerator and no money to purchase another one. Still waiting on someone to call me back - all they have done to attempt to locate it is sending an email to the delivery company.

I am extremely upset with this refrigerator. I have had it for only 2 years. When I came home from work yesterday I noticed a code CH E. I researched the code which says a high side refrigerent leak. I then noticed everything in my freezer was completely thawed and my items in my refrigerator are all very warm. So I have now lost all of my food as they are not safe to eat. This is a huge financial burden and I have 2 young kids. I called and they told me the compressor will need to be replaced. They can not get out until tomorrow afternoon. Upon additional research it seems this is an issue across many LG refrigerators. Its very disappointing as I have most all LG products TVs dishwasher oven microwave.

Good until compressor issues

Manufactured 05/2021 and installed 09/2021. It has been cold and quiet for the fridge and freezer. Water supply line had some weird issues with the receiving end on the fridge but we filed down the copper tube and got it to fit. Water and ice maker/dispenser has had no issues. Now 08/2024 and got error code within the past 24 hours CH E which is refrigerant leak. All the food in fridge is warm and freezer stuff essentially defrosted. Tried resetting the fridge it as instructed on LG site 3 times which helps for an hour or two til code reads again. I dont seem to hear anything running though and the food remains barely cold in fridge and meats thawed in freezer and ice creams melted. Called LG and confirmed still under warranty but no immediate service techs availability for atleast 5 days no weekends. So my food will all go bad and I wont have a working fridge but atleast eventually maybe one day a LG tech will come and confirm I have an issue.

Not even 2 years old the freezer and ice maker stopped working. Very disappointed We called to get it repaired. The operator is telling us to troubleshoot. Ugh 2 days later the issue got worse. Water leaking from the ice maker.

Great room for the size

Just delivered 11/27/23 and it is working great so far. Self installed and no problems. Need to be sure to remove all tape including the thin tape line at the bottom off the doors and around the outside edge. Others complained about the compressor noise and the ice maker noise but mine is very quiet and only took 6 hours to reach true temperature at 34 degrees inside the fridge and -1 in freezer. Ice made twice in that time frame. Also complaints about the water filter but mine went in very smoothly. Have to ensure the insert lines up and should be the 3 and 5 o clock position then a slight turn to lock it. Ice maker is not noisy at all at least compared to modest priced refrigerators. Maybe very high end and high price makes silent ice but this one does the job. I will return in a few months to give another update but it installed great. This fridge did replace an LG that went out on me but I have 2 large dogs and that would require a once a month cleaning of the back of the fridge. I did not keep up with that and it burned out the compressor. I will take the blame there but there are few choices for this size and would hate to see bad reviews limit the choices further if they are not justified reviews. I hope to return with continued satisfaction in a few months.

So much space

This was the only refrigerator I found that fit our space and had a water and ice dispenser on the door. We had a side-by-side fridge before and the amount of space in this french door style is incredible by comparison. I saw it referred to as cavernous and have to agree. The LED light is nice and bright and the water dispenser area lights up when youre getting water. Its also tall allowing room to fill water bottles. I like the ice cube shapesmaller cubes instead of the crescent shape were used to. Im a little nervous about having the ice maker in the fridge door since once the ice maker is manually switched off the cubes would melt and leak out. But thats the price for an ice dispenser in the door. The on/off switch to the ice maker is clearly marked and doesnt seem easy to accidentally turn off. I like the folding half shelf that allows you to put taller items in one part of the fridge. The side gallon doors would hold a gallon of milk but youd have to take it out at an unnatural angle. I wish there was a way to adjust the side door shelf spacing to make one taller but the only way would be to remove a shelf entirely. The wide deli drawer is nice though it is shallow and doesnt hold much more than a traditional one. Because of where we have the fridge we cant open the doors enough to pull the drawer out all the way so we couldnt put anything really wide in there like a sheet cake or whatever. And the freezer compartment is very roomy. Note there is not a second ice maker in the freezer but theres a bin where you can store extra ice. Still plenty of room for everything we had in our old side-by-side freezer. We probably wont use any of the smart features on this but theyre there. Overall the fridge looks great and has enough features and plenty of space for us to be extremely happy so far. The extended warranty on the compressor and certain other components give me some peace of mind. Time will tell if it holds up and we ever buy another LG appliance.

I owned the previous version of this refrigerator which sadly only lasted 4 years before the compressor died. Never expected to have to replace an appliance this soon after purchase. Due to space limitations I had to buy the new model as a replacement. The water dispenser/ice maker began leaking the same day it was delivered Waited a week for repair company to determine the water pump was bad another week for part to be delivered and still waiting for return repair visit. Poor quality for such a high ticket item. Im done with LG

Ice Maker Broke

The tube that provides water to the ice maker has permanently frozen. In order to repair this I have to replace the entire left door. Yes the entire door not just the tube and/or heating element. Price for parts and labor is close to 1/3 of the original cost of the unit. Oh by the way this happened about 1yr and 2 mos after purchase. If you read the rest of the poor reviews you will see this hunk of junk fridge has a life expectancy of about a year or less. That is less than the hot sauce and mustard that it is keeping cool. Do not buy this fridge

In just a few years it completely died ruining everything in the unit. Ive never seen such a piece of crap in my life. Its underwarranty but apparently repairing it is a major multi-hour repair of the compressor and lines Utterly ridiculous The ice machine is the worst - ice melts together in the defrost cycle forcing one to have to break up the ice chunk quite often.

Great layout bad compressor keeps going out

As for the look and layout were very happy. But exactly 5 months into owning this unit the freezer stopped maintaining temp luckily we were notified by the LG system because we were connected via wi-fi and a tech came out and replaced the compressor free of charge. Now 5 months exactly again the same thing is happening except the unit had disconnected from the wi-fi and I hadnt noticed but noticed the ice cream was melting again so I contacted an agent via the app chat feature. Scheduled soonest service call for two days from now but doesnt help my freezer filled with food and concerned that if this happens like clockwork every 5 months what happens when the warranty expires? This is the second time this has happened in less than a year yet the traditional fridge and freezer in the garage that is reaching the 20-year mark is chugging along just fine. The agent said if this happens again we can file for replacement or refund but not sure what time span that covers. Hoping its still under warranty if it does. For now fingers crossed.

More cheaply made than its predecessor-Comparison

I have owned the predecessor to this model LFX25978 for about 10 years. We had the compressor replaced like most LG refrigerators unfortunately as well as the center bar between the two French doors. Otherwise it served us well until May of this year when a storm caused electric event fried the poor thing. I ordered the current model LRFXS2503 to replace it as we are limited in our choices since the space is narrower than most models. This is a comparison. The shelves in the new unit cannot be changed from right to left as in the old and the brackets as well as the shelves seem a great deal flimsier. So if you prefer your adjustable shelf to be on the left you cannot. The current unit has two fruit/vegetable drawers in lieu of the three in the old unit. I came to prefer the three drawers but this would be a personal preference. The ice maker in the left door is still the same and a great feature though perhaps only for a small family. The delivery of the ice and water are from the same location in the current unit whereas the old unit you had to move the glass from the ice delivery to the water delivery port. Here you need to press the various buttons for what you want. I liked having the pull-out ledge on the older unit for larger containers to rest upon the current unit does not have this. I have not been able to find it if it is indeed a feature but the current unit does not seem to have a way to shut off the open-door alarm. This is particularly annoying if you are cleaning the refrigerator. It is possible that LG meant the Sabbath Mode to substitute for this but then the interior light goes off as well making it impossible to see what you are doing. The right-hand door on the current unit is incredibly difficult to close. You cannot just nudge it closed as with the left-hand door and it takes more than the usual effort to close it and the open-door alarm is always going off. This door quirk is really annoying. There is no butter shelf in the new units right-hand door only three shelves whereas the old one had the butter shelf as well as three other shelves. It does seem that the door shelves on both sides are a bit deeper on the current unit. The freezer door handle moves downward and then pulling to open the drawer and feels very flimsy. The older model was more substantial and just required pulling. The interior of the freezer compartment seems similar otherwise. The front panels of the current model allow for magnets whereas the older model did not. We have only been using the new unit for about a week and it seems alright. However given the very obvious decrease in the quality of the materials used on the new unit I am disappointed. Side by side with the old model the new one just feels cheap. Given the space restrictions for a refrigerator in our kitchen there are only a few French door models with ice and water in the door made that will fit. I really did not have much choice. Had another brands model been available I may have given it serious consideration. Time will tell if the performance of this LG is good and reliable or disappoints just like the quality of its materials. As to the vendors who sell LG my experience at the blue box store was horrendous and whilst the orange box store was much better their 3rd party delivery and set up reflects poorly on them.

Ive been reading all the bad reviews of this fridge. Im a bit unnerved by them and hope some of the problems have been fixed. I did purchase the extended warranty from Best Buy since I know that appliances do not last as long as they used to. The installers were excellent. Im keeping my fingers crossed. Im not sure I would have purchased this product if Id read the reviews first but it fit in my limited space. It does look good.

The Service men was not able to repair it - Even though they came to my home on 4 to 5 different occasions trying to fix the Refrigerator . The control Panel went out twice. A compressor was ordered but could not be install - because the refrigerator would not stay powered due to the control panel being burned out. I purchased this model brand new directly from Best Buy. If you purchase this model I advise you to purchase the extended warranty.

Noisy freezer failed - dont buy

This refrigerator has been noisy since day one. The past 2 weeks the noises and vibrations are continuous. We dont overstock our appliance because it is just two of us in the home. I noticed ice cream was soft and when we checked the temp it had risen in the freezer. Weve only had this refrigerator 7 months. Forget about LG service and the ThinQ app both are no help at all. We paid for an extended warranty at purchase and are waitIng for a service technician to come out today. For the money we paid this refrigerator isnt worth the aggravation.

Failed After 10 Months - No Customer Support

I will NEVER buy another LG product again. This refrigerator failed approximately 10 months after it was delivered by Best Buy Technicians. The fridge was kept in my kitchen under normal household conditions. The refrigerator and freezer both came to room temperature overnight resulting in the loss of hundreds of dollars worth of food. LG customer service was contacted for warranty work and it has been a nightmare attempting to get anyone to follow-up. LG sent out a repair person who was unable to work on the system but he told me that the entire compressor system failed. It has been TWO MONTHS since the fridge failed and LG has yet to repair replace or refund my money despite multiple calls to LG customer service and having spoken to multiple agents. Each time they promise a resolution but nothing ever happens.

After 1 year and 1 day of owning this refrigerator the temperature dropped and everything in the freezer melted the ice melted and water went all over the floor and the refrigerator was sitting at room temperature. Called for service and they replaced the compressor. Two days later it went through the same thaw cycle. The temperature fluctuates. Every 2-3 days it goes through some sort of thaw cycle where everything melts. It gets back up to temperature after a day or two and then drops back down to room temp. LG repair tech says this is a known issue with this model. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this terrible refrigerator.

Our fridge died in the mist of COVID last June. We saved all our food. Purchased this fridge. Only to find no ice bin to hook up the ice maker cracked ice tray once the fridge was in our home.We were refunded monies by Home Depot with instructions to order from LG. No luck the fridge only exists if you want to purchase an entirely new fridge. Please we are still trying to find and purchase the correct ice bin. Great storage room. Just no ice yet.

Purchased this in May 2020 and noticed for quite some time after about a month or so that fruits and vegetables were molding very quickly so I lowered the temperature and then noticed around Thanksgiving that things were not quite as frozen in the freezer and on 12/31/2020 realized that everything in the freezer was thawed and that there was no ice at all. I have had repair here 2 times now and it is February 8th 2021 and it is still not fixed. First I was told it was the sensor for the freezer then they changed their minds and said it was the control panel for the freezer which they changed 4 days ago and it is still not working. Nothing freezes there is no ice and now I am noticing an extreme amount of condensation in the refrigerator Wish to heaven they had reputable repair people who could fix this or maybe they should have just replaced the unit 2 months ago like I suggested when the item was still in stock

I love this refrigerator but the drawers glide and serve and self serve drawer in freezer dont pull out all the way. In order to get to the items in the back of the drawers you have to unload the front. Very inconvenient. I also wish the storage on the doors was more useable.

Con: Noise/vibration when it is running which at first we thought was a delivery truck idling on the street. We have tried adjusting position etc. to quiet it down to no avail. It also vibrates glass jars in the door unless they are placed just so.

I purchased this model from Home Depot in September 2018. It is working fine. I have not had any problem with it so far. The freeze section is almost full every time and the fridge part almost full too. Just the right door is not firm as it was at the beginning a bit loose.
