Great Fridge terrible Craft Ice Maker

Great fridge. Craft Ice Maker is the absolute worst trash part on the line of fridges. I am on Ice maker number 4 in less than 4 years owning the thing and it just keeps going out. Its dead yet again. Last time I had to fight LG premium care because it went out of business for about 6 months before LG even honored the warranty. Now the ice maker is dead yet again Terrible. Will be slowly replacing all my LG Kitchen appliances even though we just got them all within the last 4 years. The last repair guy that came out said this is the number 1 part he always has to fix on LG fridges these days because the company knows its a terrible maker and yet they still cannot find a way to fix its issues... You know it is bad when the repair person shares that.

Craft ice maker quit working after about 8 months and called for service. Was sent a new ice maker that I had to install. After following all the videos to perform this change of ice maker the new one sent to me doesnt match the one Im removing. Refrigerator is under warranty and I feel I should not have to perform repairs myself. Poor quality and customer satisfaction.

We purchased in May 2022 and absolutely loved it until we started getting error messages in late November. Since then we have not gone two full weeks without some error message disabling the ice maker and the water dispenser. We have had four service visits two different motherboard replacements and a new ice maker and still have issues. Fun fact since we are only have issues with the ice maker LG will not replace the refrigerator but instead will give you a 20 discount on a new LG refrigerator. Dont even get me started on the customer service aspect. Words cannot describe how difficult it has been with them. Even the Presidential customer service has been poor.

LG CRAFT ICE MAKER

I bought the LG refrigerator because of the option of the Ice Craft maker. The fridge is 14 months old and the Craft ice feature stop working around 12 months and I tried all the reset feature after talking with LG reps with no success. I do not use the Wi-Fi feature so I cant comment. It was a good decision on our part to by the extended warranty from HOME DEPOT and got reimburse for total purchase price plus tax. I did see on line that Ice Craft maker feature was a common problem from other customers. LG Im sure is cognizant of this problem and still sell the fridge with this inadequate feature.

Counter depth surprise

While it is great to have a counter depth refrigerator that allows for more room in the kitchen the craft ice maker has never worked properly and now does not work at all. The Wi-Fi was easy to setup and allowed me to find out when doing a system check the craft ice maker wasnt working properly. I was contacted by LG service and asked for model and serial number to proceed with setting up a service call. That was two weeks ago and I have heard nothing. My warranty runs out in a few weeks and Im still without craft ice. At this time Im disappointed in LG. I hope my washer dryer and TV that are all LG dont have any issues.

I bought this refrigerator specifically for the craft ice maker. What LG doesnt tell you is that if you have a water softener system in your home the craft ice only will taste salty. The regular ice and the dispensed water will taste fine. This has to do with the way the process of making ice balls works. Its a well known problem and is discussed in many forums on the internet but LG is silent about it and there is no fix other than getting rid of your water softener. Google search for LG Craft Ice Salty before you buy.

The repair people are great they just cant get parts. Im sad that this expensive appliance even needs to be fixed at 6 months old.

We bought this fridge about a month ago and its amazing I love everything about it. The French doors are wonderful the shelves are movable and easy to clean and see through. I love the use of the third door for beverages. The freezer drawer space is very spacious and great for what we need. Love the craft ice feature. Love that the door dings when its been open for too long. LOVE IT It was very affordable and definitely seems more expensive You wont be disappointed.

Overall this unit is well designed and offered a great value for the price. I have noticed some small quirks such as ice occasionally getting stuck in the ice dispenser or limited space for large items. these quirks are minor and overshadowed by the many above standard items I have found. Black stainless is the way to go

We purchased our LG fridge in May. We loved the features craft ice counter top depth shelf space and the door to access items used frequently without opening the main part of the fridge. We did have a problem with the ice tasting plasticky so we changed the water source to the recommended apex line. The regular ice and water are fine but the craft ice still tastes plasticky. Will give it a little more time before we call for a technician to come out and and determine the problem.

What an upgrade We love this fridge. Its absolutely beautiful and has so much more room for everything. Its designed really well. The door in door feature is our favorite thing we got it without the window because we dont need to see what we have in our fridge...seems pointless. The only negative things I can say about it is: the ice machine is not designed well. If you want to add ice cubes to a small water bottle you either have to open the ice machine door and literally remove the ice machine basket to grab some ice or put ice in a big cup and transfer to the water bottle by hand. The craft ice is nice but were never gonna use it. Wish it would make regular ice. Cant figure out how to turn off the door alarm. The app will notify you if the door is open. But only after 10 minutes. Other than that...its incredible and we are so happy with our purchase.

Love the little door

I bought this fridge a month ago and have been very happy. We had not had a counter depth fridge in a space built for one. This fits great. Love the craft ice maker and the features of multiple doors slide out freezer and adjustable shelving. Only one issue is that we are having to adjust to how to fill the freezer to not bury things and reorienting how we put tall large bottles in the fridge. As we relearn we enjoy it more.
