Unreliable Appliance

The fridge is ultimately unreliable long-term. Weve had this four years and it is broken. Likely a compressor issue. Under warranty but frankly its ridiculous it broke this quickly. Ice machine never produced adequately either. I think when you pay this much for a product this short a lifespan is absurd. The back of the fridge is away from the wall with ventilation and kept clean literally just vacuumed it again so not a blockage issue clearly. I would also note that the plan for warranty review and presumably repair or whatever was told to us just today that the tech would not be here for TWO WEEKS. Also absurd Imagine buying an expensive appliance the ice part never works well you work at keeping it clean and then it breaks completely after four years? Fridges used to last at least ten or more so hard not to think this is a brand problem. Cannot imagine buying them again and am frankly skeptical we will get either an adequate repair or a real refund as owed. STAY AWAY from LG.

I love the amount of room it has. Its easy to find and reach things. I very much like the narrow little shelf on the bottom of the door great for medications and things that otherwise easily get lost. The door will only open from the right however and because LG has not sent the required hardware to change the way it opens Im really wishing wed gotten the 3-door style. Sour taste about LG.

After 4 yrs Stopped Cooling No Tech for warranty

We bought this LG 4 years ago and five days it stopped cooling in both the freezer and refrigerator areas. It stopped cooling completely Called LG and they said its covered under warranty and a technician would be in contact with me. However when I didnt hear from a technician after 3 days I called LG again and they said no technician is available in my area right now and that theyd let me know when one is. Thats it No estimated time just no technician period. Meanwhile all my food in the refrigerator had to be thrown away Still waiting for the tech to call me.

Vibration Noise Drives me crazy

Ive purchased two of these refrigerators and both have had problems. The first died at 5 years and two months after purchase - right after the warranty expired. We could not wait for repair issues so we sent that one to a landfill and bought an identical one due to space issues in our kitchen. This second unit makes a loud vibration sound at least half of the day. I intend to have a warranty service call and I hope something can be done to stop the noise though I am not optimistic. I will remove a cabinet in my home before I buy another LG refrigerator.

Faulty Fridge

Purchased the fridge new about a year and a half ago. Woke up to a thawed freezer and warm fridge. Contacted LG and said it will be at least $400 to have a technician come out to troubleshoot/repair it. Aggravating thing is we just purchased two sets of matching LG kitchen appliances. Warranty is misleading on their products. We will not be going with LG again.

We bought this refrigerator 5 years ago. The compressor blew out at year 4.5. It was replaced under warranty a few months ago but the new compressor sounds like it wont last long. This is a well known and litigated problem with these refrigerators. Out of warranty now. Wont be buying ANY LG product again. Buy at your own risk.

Quality and reliability: I had the refer for 4 years and it now continues to stop working about every two weeks. Lost a bunch of food worth many dollars. The LG repair process would not send a repair person and it took months and extensive complex processes to provide a partial return warranty coverage rebate. A total hassle and without a replacement for months.

Not Worth It

Bought from Lowes in 2021. We have replaced 2 ice makers. 2025 the control board and compressor went out. Those were replaced by the 5 year warranty we purchased. 2026 the freezer began to warm. Technician did a dye test and determined there was a leak in the shell. Not worth repairing and we were 2 months past the 5 year warranty we purchased. The technician said to stay away from LG refrigerators. Only lasted 5 years.

Good refrigerator 4 year failure great service

Great refrigerator. Not so sure about the reliability and long-term quality. The compressor had a complete failure after 4 years so it needed a major repair. Luckily it was covered under the warranty so it was a no-charge repair otherwise this would have been trashed as I would not have paid over $1000 to fix it. I got great customer service and the repair technicians did a great job its been working fine since they fixed it. However it took almost a week to schedule the repair so we had to make arrangements to store food in the meantime. So now we dont trust it so weve purchased a second refrigerator for the basement to use as a backup.

Extremely disappointed with this LG refrigerator purchased in 2022. I previously had issues with the ice maker and now the entire unit has stopped workingboth the fridge and freezer are not cooling. Ive lost food and have no usable appliance. I was told it could take 35 days just to locate a technician in my area. I would not recommend this product.

This is one of the better bottom freezer available. We use it as a drink refrigerator in the garage and wanted a bottom freezer with a single to door. These days you always get a French door fridge. I am glad that LG kept this single door top and bottom freezer. I would like it if they made a configuration for drinks and bottles only. Remove the vegetables drawers butter tray etc. the only issue we had with the fridge is the compressor died twice. LG covered the replacement twice under warranty no question asked or cost to me. Good warranty for compressor 10years.

do not buy ours died after only being 4yrs old lg will not honor warrenty will give you nothing but the run around been without a fridge going on 2months after contacting the bbb they finally shipped one was promised deliverly the 15th they lied stayed home from work lost wages just to get a phone call saying sorry fridge wouldnt fit on truck so 3 days later stay home again for deliverly they come with a busted fridge with electric cord no good so another lost day of wages so again no fridge no word from lg they can shove it will be getting legal help dont trust them they will screw you over very first time will never buy another product made by lg

This unit only lasted five years then stopped cooling the fridge and freezer. There is no local technician in my area. Tried calling LG Support but they kept sending me links to my local area even after I told them there is no one in my area to fix the compressor. They also sent me to a technician that only fixes TVs. They want me to wait until one of their technicians is available but they cannot tell when that will be. Meanwhile my food is ruined. Very disappointed.

Compressor burnt out after 4 1/2 years.g Appliance repair replaced the motherboard and suggested I contact LG as compressor still under warranty. Had no issues with customer service and they sent technician out in 4 days - day after Christmas. Replaced compressor at no cost - technician even followed up the next day checking to see if working correctly.

Refrigerators should last more than SIX years. We actually like this fridge until it stopped working. . BUT it literally just stopped cooling - both the freezer and the fridge...overnight. We had to throw out so much good food. Then we found out that NO service person in our area will try to fix an LG NOT ONE. The authorised LG place wanted well over 100 dollars just to come look at it....in a week NO ONE has a week to wait when the dont have a fridge and THEN wait days or weeks to have it fixed as they said it might likely take.. We are profoundly disappointed in LG and this Fridge. Not only did we lose the money for the food we threw away we had to try to eat out VERY expensive and of course we DID NOT get our moneys worth out of this pricey refrigerator and THEN we had to buy a new refrigerator right before Christmas. The sheer inconvenience of not having a working fridge for 2 weeks with a disabled child who has special food needs not found at most restaurants was stressful and unnecessary. LG should check a broken Fridge free and provide more help than they did. I will never purchase any LG product again because of this. They should also pay for the 200 dollars worth of food we had to toss out but of course they take no responsibility for that.

Terrible Experience Do Not Buy LG Refrigerators I bought my LG refrigerator in 2022 and it has been nothing but problems ever since. In just 2 years Ive had Center Point come out 4 different times for cooling issues. The most recent time I was told its a compressor issue which they admitted is a very common problem with LG refrigerators. They advised me to call LG directly. When I did LG scheduled me 4 days out leaving my family of 5 without a working refrigerator for a full week. During that time all the food in my fridge and freezer went bad this has happened multiple times now. When they finally came out they fixed it but told us not to open the fridge for 48 hours. Even after waiting the ice maker still doesnt work. I called LG again and spent over an hour on the phone trying to reset the ice maker and now Im just left waiting and hoping it might start working. Through all of this LG has shown zero care no apologies no compensation no incentives nothing. Bottom line: LG refrigerators are unreliable and not worth the headache. Save yourself the stress wasted food and money buy anything else but LG.

So - LG has a 10-year warranty on the compressor. Thats what sold us. Hopefully this will help anyone else looking to purchase an LG fridge. What LG doesnt tell you is after your warranty we bought a 5-year extended warranty through Home Depot is that if the compressor fails they charge you a $398.99 FLAT REPAIR RATE. Our compressor failed at year 4 3/4. The compressor was replaced free of charge under the Home Depot Warranty. Two years after that repair the compressor failed again. This is when we learned about LGs FLAT REPAIR RATE. The technician ordered in advance a new compressor to be shipped to our home before he even arrived. Two years after that repair the compressor failed again. This is when we learned about LGs FLAT REPAIR RATE. The technician ordered in advance a new compressor to be shipped to our home before he even arrived. Prior to contacting LG for service/repair we contacted several appliance repair shops. No one would touch the repair for the compressor. Dont even bother trying to send a complaint on their website to the VP of customer service. I wasted my time submitting a complaint and received nothing in response. In addition the black stainless steel peeled off after a year of use. This is considered cosmetic and was not covered under either the LG or Home Depot warranty. I will not buy LG ever again. I hope this review will help others.

Had this fridge for just under 4 years before it stopped working for the most part. All the lights and little display work great it just doesnt cool or freeze anymore realized it had stopped working when everything in the freezer defrosted and went bad and then checked the fridge to notice that also was warm.

I would 100 not recommend this fridge or any LG product. Our fridge is not even a year old and the handle broke off at the top. I got hold of Home Depot from whom I purchased the fridge and they told me to contact LG directly. I was on the phone for 45 minutes and 25 mins of that was trying to get a supervisor on the line. They told me they would send a new part out that was covered under the warranty but will not send someone to take the previous handle off Its still attached at the bottom and put the new handle on. They barely offered a solution other than calling someone local. I am very disappointed with their customer service and design. When this breaks entirely in a year it will be the last LG appliance we ever buy. For context this fridge is in an office of 25 people and we are only here about 2 days a week. We bought this fridge less than a year ago.

Originally this was a 5 star review. I absolutely loved this fridge while it worked. But less than 4 years later I now have a useless room temperature eyesore due to their terrible compressors. DONT BELIEVE THE WARRANTY. Its been well over a week since my fridge broke and I have a repairman lined up but they still refuse to send him the replacement parts he needs until they call him and a week later they havent called him. Its not a warranty if people have to spend weeks without a functional appliance because of bureaucracy.

At 4 years 3 months unit diagnosed with bad compressor. Never had a refrigerator fail or replaced in less than 10 years. Reportedly compressor failure is common for this model within first 5 years. Didnt trust reliability of a replacement compressor so I opted to buy another brand bottom freezer refrigerator. Expensive lesson.

I bought this refrigerator August 2021 and it quit cooling May 4 2025. LG has had the WORST customer service. I contacted them on May 4th about getting it repaired. They continually put me off and said it would be 3-5 business day then 3-5 more business days and that finally someone would call me about the repair. It is June 12 2025 and no one ever came to repair my refrigerator. When I finally got tired of waiting on someone to come repair my refrigerator I asked for a refund to replace it myself. They insulted me by offering me $800 and it wasnt until I threw a fit that they finally offered me $1270.00 in store credit. I was finally able to order a new refrigerator today but there is no telling when it will come in and if it will last longer than my last one. They also did not offer to reimburse my lost groceries and I was unable to replace the refriderator that I lost instead I had to buy a cheaper one through LG. I will never willing purchase an LG product again and I highly recommend that you save yourself the money and headache of dealing with LG. If I could I would give them zero stars.

Weve had this refrigerator for just over 5 years. We have had to replace the compressor 6 times in 5 years. Our factory warranty is now over so the next one time it goes out we are just gonna set it out for the dump. Terrible product terrible customer service a complete waste of $1600 dollars

I purchased on black friday. Delivered 12/17. Broke 1/23. LG assured me that they would repair it and reimburse my food loss. Well guess what they did neither. Thank goodness I bought the Best Buy Plus membership and was able to return it. But LG---after promising to reimburse me for all the lost food said that because they never repaired it they dont have to pay for my food. Just know if you have a unit that breaks almost immediately broken defroster which will take 9-10 days to repair multiple parts ordered to multiple addresses just know that LG expects you to wait that long for a working fridge. After that they might consider submitting a form to reimburse you for $900 in groceries. I titled my review with absolute garbage because thats what my fridge was full of in 36 short days of using this appliance.

We loved it u til the compressor died after two years of use. It was a hassle working with LG to get a technician assigned to put in a new compressor but finally it happened. IF nothing g breaks again on Thos refrigerator I would say that it is a great refrigerator that is a big if though. Fingers crossed.

This as delivered by Lowes not working. But the issue was subtle and we didnt notice until after the 48 hr return window. Yay Lowes customer service /s. The freezer fluctuates betwee 0 and 25 degrees and the refrigerator fluctuates between 33 and 39. So we really cant keep much in the freezer other than ice. LG tried to assign a repair shop but they cancelled the order because they didnt have a refrigeration tech. Then it took a few more days for LG to find a new repair provider and another week for them to show up. Then another week to order a fan. That did not fix the issue. Now it has been 2 months since we bought this and this is still not resolved. the repair shop sent a new control board but apparently they cant replace that without also replacing a panel which has been backordered for weeks. How poorly is this thing engineered that you cant replace a control board without also replacing a panel? Shouldnt a panel just come off and go back on? But if that is the case then they should have the parts avaialble. So for now we have $1500 a refrigerator with an ice-maker but not freezer. Not exactly a good value for the money.

Your answer to a known defect with your product is to tell your customers to buy another door? We paid $1700 for a refrigerator that - after the 1 year cosmetic warranty expired - all of the sudden started to show small dents in the bottom refrigerator door. Turns out these small dents are a known defect due to issues with the insulation between the external and internal door panel. LG knows about it and refuses to make it right.

Icemaker makes cubes taste like chemical/plastic

For the first 2 weeks the ice tasted like chemicals plastic. We decided it might be the filter so we put in a new filter with the same results. Now it makes no ice at all but instead shoots water out of a plastic port in the back instead of filling the tray. The only good news is that we longer have bad tasting ice. Bought this a month and a half ago.
