Avoid LG and their bogus 10 year warranty

The 10 year warranty on the motor is a joke. The dishwasher cost $700 and after 6 years the motor on ours went out. Call up LG and the only thing they will do is charge $300 for someone to come out to fix your dishwasher. No sending you a replacement part to fix yourself no free/cheap inspection to confirm the motor is busted no -- just charge almost half the price of the dishwasher to fix it until the next problem comes around and they can charge another $300 to fix. What an absolute joke. Guessing no one will see this because I dont even know if this product is even available any more but if it causes one person to second-guess buying an LG dishwasher in the future itll be worth it. Never again.

My very first dishwasher sounded like a helicopter landing. We decided to get new appliances so I done some research and figured it out. You had to go by decibels to get a quiet dishwasher. My LG dishwasher is amazing. You cant even tell that its on. It is so quiet.I love it.

Have to reset the breaker to get the dishwasher powered back up. It is not tripping the breaker but needs power disconnected to turn on again. Plug is being the unit so not accessible. The Wi-Fi connection is lost and very difficult to reconnect since the ThinQ app has to be used and relogging into it does not work and trying to verify my account does not work. The top rack is rusted in several places and need replacing.

I purchased it August 15 2018 as part of a package with refrigerator and stove with double oven. As of June 1 2024 is no longer working the dishwasher is not getting dishes clean. Ive had repair in and tell me it will cost upwards $400.00 to fix. So now only 2 stars.

6 LG Refrigerators and a dead LG Dishwasher

As of this review the dishwasher has not been operating correctly since January. The unit began to act up on occasion by restarting the wash cycle at least twice before it executed the full cycle. Then a grinding sound began part way through the cycle and continued until the end. We called Best Buy and found our three year coverage had expired. Even then they said they probably would not have a technician that would be able to help. BB suggested we call LG and so we did. After giving LG the info about the dishwasher they said that at this time they did not have a technician available in our area to miinspect the dishwasher. The closest third party repair person was located about 1.5 hours away. So now we are getting our parts from Amazon and going to attempt part swap ourselves. Premium price for about 4 years of service and no technicians to repair the unit. Stay away from LG products until they get their act together. Ask me about the 6 LG refrigerators weve had Junk....

I assume I was sent this review based on the repair recently done to the dishwasher. The repairman was on time he was cordial repaired the dishwasher in a professional manner and ran diagnostics after the repair to make sure all was in order. The dishwasher was almost five years old so the repair wasnt under warranty and cost $318.44. Thought the machine would last longer before it needed repairing. On another note our LG side by side fridge also less than five years old has had the compressor replaced and now the ice maker is broken with a cost estimate of $425 or so. No sure about the reliability of your products and if well purchase again.

Poor Workmanship and Terrible Service

This dishwasher was purchased in January 2020 and worked fine for a little over four years before the diverter motor failed. This was suprising given that fact that we use the dishwasher on average about once per week. To make matters worst LG charges a flat fee of $299 + tax to repair the unit eventhough the failed part is covered by the original manufacturers warranty. To charge a customer this amount of money even though the actual part is under warranty is unsat. This will be the last LG dishwasher I will purchase and I dont recommend it.

Without any doubt it is a great product. It worked fine until recently. Its inevitable that a device with electronic components can give up anytime. The one that I purchased didnt last long unfortunately. Yes it gave up in 4 years. Though the dishwasher itself is not under warranty some of the components are still under warranty but LG authorized service technicians are giving me hard time in fixing it. Its been over two months since it stopped working. I have already paid close to $500/- to the technicians and Im still waiting to have it fixed. I wish LGE management take notice to address this matter.

Failed after just three years

My wife and I purchased LG Dishwasher model number LDP6797ST in March of 2020 for $700. A mid-level option it served our family reasonably well until about a month ago when an error code began to appear and prevented the operation of the unit. I dont remember the code but we looked it up and the reference was indicative of a bad motor. The motor warranty on this unit is 10 years however the warranty only covers the part not the labor/installation which was quoted as $200 by a local technician. We did not attempt to operate it any further for the past month as we deliberated what to do. When I turned it on today to identify the error code again it did not appear so I attempted to run a cycle to get it to appear again. The machine appeared to start the cycle but 10 seconds later I heard a pop and the machine shut off completely. I then smelled the familiar acrid smell of an electrical short and figured the circuit was fried or hopefully just tripped. Sadly upon resetting the seemingly untripped circuit I could no longer turn the machine on at all suggesting the electrical components of the machine failed and are no longer intact. I called LG for help and they said I would need to have an electrician come in at my own expense to diagnose the state of the circuit. They re-affirmed that if the motor was found faulty LG would replace that specific part but not pay for the labor and would offer no financial assistance for any electrical issue. So now I need to pay for both an electrician and plumber to *possibly* return this machine to an operational state. Given my suspicion that the electrical components of the machine are now at least part of the issue as well it is more practical and cost-effective to simply replace the machine with a brand new unit. But it will certainly not be an LG unit and I feel I cannot risk purchasing any other LG products in the future. With a stated operational expectancy of 10 years the failure of this machine after just 3 years was obviously very disappointing and LGs failure to make it right makes me lose faith in their commitment to stand by the quality of their products. Additionally a motor warranty that still requires a $200 out-of-pocket expenditure grants virtually no peace of mind for future purchases given this represents over 1/4 of the original cost. LG is just fortunate that the shorting machine did not start an electrical fire in my home as that would obviously have been a much larger problem and represents a significant liability for their company.

Parts dont wear well.

: When its not broken it works well. I like the extra pull-out tray. The hidden controls are good too. : It is broken right now. Its needed several repairs yearly for 2 master pump/heaters replacements it had an electronic problem that needed replacement parts the racks are rusting in spots and the plastic hinges for the dish racks are broken and most recently Im waiting on parts to fix the main seal that disintegrated and let water into the latch mechanism causing it to burn and smoke and shut the machine down for 2 weeks now.

Terrible stopped working 3 years after purchase and LGs best warranty in America says it is out of warranty. Even though in the manual it says electronics are warrantied for 5 years. The only thing worse then the warranty was the service. Spent 7 buisness days doing what they said to fix it and then was told to contact the areas LG repairmen. Repairmen said its not worth repairing since the electronics are bad and it has a leak. Called LG back with the news and they offered 15 off a new one.... thats not a warranty. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they would call in 3-5 buisness days. It has been 3 weeks and still no call. I will never purchase any LG product again. Giant WASTE of money.

Does not Honor printed or stamped Warranty

Bought this dishwasher in the Fall of 2020 from sears and in Mid October of 23 it quit working. I followed online instructions cleaned the gaskets turned it back on and got an error code of AE. Called LG they said wait an additional 2 days I had already done this for it to dry. Did that still nothing. Called LG they gave me the number to their local servicer. Servicer came out and said it would need new electronics and then other parts depending on the leak and that it was not worth fixing. Called LG they offered 15 off a new one. This model has 3 different warranties 1 year for everything 5 years for electronics and 10 for the motor. LG refused to honor the 5 year warranty. LG claimed that the warranty starts from the manufacture date 2017 not the purchase date. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told it would take 3-5 business days. Its been almost 3 weeks and have heard nothing. We will never buy another LG product again. Worst Customer service I have EVER had.

My husband and I may run it 2 to 3 times a week. Were 64/70. Im the only one who loads and unload the dishwasher. It washes dishes horribly. At 2.5 years old the dishwasher racks started rusting and falling apart. At 3 years old the buttons no longer work. I thought I was buying quality when I outfitted my entire kitchen with LG appliances but boy was I wrong. 3 out of the 4 appliances have required repair at less than 3.5 years old. The two times I reached out to LG customer service for a warranty item they shot me down and did nothing to help me. Its sad where lg has gone in terms of qc and as a company in general. They have lost my business for good.

Issues with Wi-Fi

I am a senior citizen and someone sold me this WiFi dishwasher without telling me what it was. I never understood or used it on the internet. Eventually the idiot WiFi function failed and then stopped the dishwasher from working. The company was unable to help me troubleshoot the issue. I had a professional technician come out and he could not solve the issue even with LG tech support. I gave up and purchased another dishwasher which did not have the stupid WiFi feature. What does the internet have anything to do with washing dirty dishes. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Shame on LG for such a useless invention.

It is beautiful very roomy and I love that the little spokes can be laid flat so you can put in larger dishes and different arrangements of dishes to maximize space. It is also very quiet when it runs you barely hear it at all. Its a good quality machine with really good features would buy it again.

I bought this piece of trash on 2018. On 2019 right 1 year after warranty expired the door started to fail. I figured out that to make the dishwasher to run I needed to pull the door up when closing it so the cycle would start. However half of the times the cycle will stop at mid cycle probably because same issue. Manufactures should offer 5 years warranty if they are so proud of their products or maybe they dont even trust what they build. This would be nice also for environment not having to buy a new appliance every 5/10 years

Good dishwasher but not built to last

We use the dishwasher everyday since 2019 it washes dishes well. It has required a major repair every year of ownership. The dish basket perished with corrosion after 2yrs use the sump motor after just 4 years of use . has leaked due to heating element baking the seals. A known design weakness. The plastic control panel /door handle has cracked and failed also early 4yrs and required an expansive replacement. Disappointed by how quickly the product has failed.

Has good features but some design flaws

I have owned the dishwasher since 2018 and I like the 3 rows and the moveable middle row. However almost immediately the middle row for cups bowls etc. began to have portions start to rust. Also when the dishwasher came to us there was a almost unnoticeable hairline crack on the touchpad-control panel where it power button is. Since then the crack has grown to the point that I cant power the dishwasher on by touching it. I was sent a new control panel but it has the same crack in the same place. When installing the new control panel/touch pad it powers on but none of the buttons on the right side work including the start button. If I could go back I would get a dishwasher with actual buttons instead of these simulated ones.

We purchased this LG dishwasher 3 1/2 years ago. It did a great job and we were very happy with it. We liked LG products as we had good TVs. We purchased an LG side by side refrigerator and we were happy with that. When it was around 2 years old the compressor went out. Fortunately it was under warranty and we werent charged for the part but we had to pay the repair bill. Lots of food was lost and the inconvenience of not have a refrigerator for 2 weeks was no fun. This was a quite fairly new and expensive refrigerator Now our LG dishwasher goes out and weve been without a dishwasher for weeks. The part again was under warranty but not the repairmans bill Seems like LG knows they have faulty parts After waiting to get the part the repairman put it on and it still wont work He even tried other parts to try everything he could After hours of trying he told me that we must have gotten a lemon. That dishwasher was only 3 1/2 years old What a waste Lots of money inconvenience and time without a dependable appliance we had put our confidence in. We will no longer buy LG appliances

Decent but fragile.

I have had this machine for 5 years. The installation left the door crooked and it occasionally leaks but Ill put more blame on the installer rather than the dishwasher. Unfortunately after three years the dishwasher started sending a HE error code so I have to pay to have it replaced. On the plus side I really enjoy the smart part of it. Using a phone app alongside the dishwasher is wonderful. I wish more products move to this method.

Quieter than my last LG

My 12 year old LG dishwasher was working perfectly albeit not as quiet so because the family room opens off the kitchen I decided to invest in one of the quietist dishwashers LG makes plus additional new features like Quad wash and 3 racks. Easy in/out replacement through Costco and you can hardly heard the unit run. The water being let into the unit is the noisiest part. Im happy and looking forward to a continued exceptional washing experience My old unit was rehoused with a friend for his daughter
